Forest Park

Forest Park in St. Louis is a beautiful place to spend the day.

Forest Park is a lovely green space inside the city of St. Louis. It’s nearly twice the size of New York City’s Central Park and packed with family friendly attractions. Forest Park was the home of the 1904 World’s Fair and at present, more than 12 million people visit it each year. General admissions at many of the park’s attractions are free making it a great place to take the family for the day.

St. Louis Zoo

One of the most popular attractions in Forest Park is the St. Louis Zoo. General admission is free but there are some fees for things such as the petting zoo, the zooline railroad and the carousel. The St. Louis Zoo has over 700 species of animals so there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Parking is $12 for passenger cars or $24 for motor homes and buses. There is also the option to take the Metrolink and catch the trolley to the zoo. The trolley operates daily from April to October and an adult fare is $2. There is also limited free street parking inside Forest Park.

The Science Center

The Science Center is a wonderful place to visit with children because there is so much to see and do. There are hundreds on inter active exhibits for exploring and learning. General admission is free and the hours for the Science Center are 9:30 to 5:30 Monday through Saturday and from 11 to 5:30 on Sunday. Parking is $9 for the day.

Missouri History Museum

For a peek into the past, visit the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park. It’s located just inside Forest Park at 5700 Lindell Boulevard. General admission is free and there are many interesting exhibits regarding the history of St. Louis and throughout the state of Missouri. The museum is open daily from 10 until 6 and until 8pm on Tuesdays.

The St. Louis Art Museum

Add some culture to your trip to Forest Park by heading over to the St. Louis Art Museum, more commonly known as SLAM. General admission is also free to the art museum although there is a charge for special collections and exhibits. SLAM is closed on Mondays but is open Tuesday through Sunday.

These are just a few of the attractions in Forest Park. Other attractions include the Muny, the Jewelbox, the Boathouse, the Steinberg Skating Rink along with beautiful hiking and biking trails. Forest Park is also a favorite setting for weddings and special events.
